Finnish Hematological Registry and Biobank (FHRB) project
FHRB is a national collaborative project for collecting samples from patients with hematological malignancies. It is operated by three partners: The Finnish Association of Hematology (FAH), Finnish Red Cross Blood Service (FRCBS) and FIMM. The consortium offers the sample processing, storage and management service for all the hospitals/clinics treating hematological patients. Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) is the first hospital district to utilize the service, and new hospital districts are expected to join during 2012.
FAH operates the hematological patient registry, FRCBS is responsible for the centralized processing, aliquoting and coding of the samples and FIMM takes care of the sample storage and also distributes the samples to the approved research projects. Hospitals and clinics have an important role in recruiting patients to participate and also in collecting samples and clinical data. FHRB is an open access biorepository and the access right will be granted based on published criteria.
